Sac and Fox Indian Creation Legend

Sac and Fox Indian Creation Legend
The myth of this North American Indian tribe tells how two powerful Manitous felt themselves to have been insulted by the tribal ancestor Wisaka. They attacked him by raging and roaring over the earth, then one of them set the world on fire while the other followed this up with a great rain which put out the fire and flooded the earth. Wisaka sought refuge on a hill top, then as the waters rose he climbed to the top of the highest tree, from which he was eventually rescued by a canoe.
